TippdOff™

Privacy Policy

Capital Asset Builders LLC · Last Updated: June 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Capital Asset Builders LLC, doing business as TippdOff™ ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use our platform at tippdoff.com and associated mobile applications (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Name, email address, age range, zip/postal code, and city when you register for an account
  • Fee reports, notes, and restaurant reviews you submit through the platform
  • Profile photos or receipt images you voluntarily upload
  • Device location data (GPS) when you grant permission through your browser or device settings
  • Technical metadata collected automatically during registration and onboarding, including device type (e.g., mobile, tablet, desktop), browser user-agent string, and operating system version. This data is collected strictly for UI performance optimization, drop-off analysis, and compatibility improvements — it is not used to build individual user profiles or sold to third parties
  • Crash logs, diagnostics, and app performance data (including Web Vitals like page load speed, layout stability, and interaction responsiveness) to improve app reliability and user experience

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the TippdOff platform and its features
  • To display community-sourced restaurant fee data to other users
  • To send notifications related to your reports, account activity, and platform updates
  • To verify your geographic service area eligibility
  • To detect and prevent fraudulent, abusive, or prohibited conduct
  • To anonymize and aggregate data for analytics and research purposes as described in our Terms of Service

3. Push Notifications

We use push notifications to send you real-time updates, such as nearby restaurant fee alerts, community crowdsourcing updates, or account notifications. You can opt-out of receiving these communications at any time by turning off notifications within your mobile device's system settings.

4. Information Sharing

Key CommitmentWe do not sell your personally identifiable information (PII) — including your name, email, or payment details — to third parties.
  • Aggregated, anonymized fee and dining trend data may be licensed or sold to third-party analytics partners, as described in Section 6 of our Terms of Service
  • Your submitted fee reports are visible to other users of the platform; however, your full name and personal details are not publicly displayed on individual reports
  • We use Google Places API to verify and enrich restaurant location data
  • We use Stripe for payment processing; payment data is handled directly by Stripe and governed by their privacy policy
  • We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Capital Asset Builders LLC and its users

5. Data Retention & Account Deletion Rights

We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. You have the right to permanently delete your account and associated profile data at any time, either:
  • Directly in-app: Navigate to Profile Settings within the TippdOff application and select the account deletion option, or
  • Via our public request form: Submit a deletion request through our contact page at tippdoff.com/contact

Upon submitting a deletion request, your personal account data — including your name, email address, and profile information — will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated fee contributions you previously submitted may be retained for community transparency purposes, but will no longer be associated with your identity.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We use sessionStorage and localStorage (browser-based local storage mechanisms) to manage the following:
  • Authentication tokens: Persistent authentication tokens are stored in localStorage to keep you logged in across sessions for email/password logins and OAuth provider sign-ins (Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Facebook). Session-scoped tokens are stored in sessionStorage for the duration of a browser session.
  • OAuth provider state: Temporary session identifiers are stored in sessionStorage during OAuth redirect flows to securely complete third-party authentication.
  • Location data caching: Geolocation coordinates are cached temporarily in sessionStorage (up to 10 minutes) to reduce repeated GPS requests.
  • User preferences: UI theme, consent choices, and filter states are stored in localStorage.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies. You may clear your browser storage at any time through your device or browser settings, though this will sign you out and may affect platform functionality.

7. Geolocation Data

We request access to your device's GPS location solely to display nearby restaurant map pins and fee metrics relevant to your area. All location processing happens locally on your client device — your coordinates are used in-browser to calculate proximity and sort nearby results. Your precise location is never sold, shared, or transmitted to external data brokers or third-party marketing entities. Location data is cached temporarily (up to 10 minutes) in sessionStorage and is not stored permanently on our servers without your explicit consent. You may deny or revoke location access at any time through your device or browser settings; the app remains fully functional without location access, though nearby features will be limited.

8. Children's Privacy

TippdOff is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at hello@tippdoff.com and we will promptly remove the account.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and access controls to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

10. Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR & Account Deletion)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Permanently delete your account and personal data directly in-app via Profile Settings or through our public request form at tippdoff.com/contact ("right to be forgotten")
  • Opt-Out: Opt out of the commercialization of your anonymized data as described in our Terms of Service
  • Portability: Request a portable copy of your data in a machine-readable format

To exercise these rights, use the in-app Profile Settings, submit a request at tippdoff.com/contact, or email us at hello@tippdoff.com.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the platform following the effective date of updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
